Unit 12 Study Packet: Genetic Engineering

Below is a link for the Unit 12 study packet.  This packet was assigned on Feb 21st and is due on Friday March 3rd  at the beginning of your class period.

In order to receive a grade for this assignment, students must receive a score of 80% or higher.  Students can submit a response for this study packet once a day until the due date.  STUDENTS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE A SCORE OF 80% ON THIS PACKET BY THE DUE DATE WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT.

Once a student has passed this packet with a score of 80% or higher, they may continue to take the packet to try and improve their score up until the due date.

This study packet is an open-book, open resource assignment. Students can use whatever resources they wish to answer the questions in this packet.

Tip 1:  If you have an email address, and enter your email address into the form you will receive an email with your score.

Tip 2:  If you take the packet and your score remains a zero, that means you did not score 80% or higher and you need to try the packet again.

Finally, below are links to the dogs we tested last year.  You can watch the video of last years dogs and see the DNA results for both dogs from last year.  Look at the breeds that were detected in each dog and see if you can see the traits in those dogs that come from those specific breeds.

Pigeonetics Activity

Below is a link to the interactive genetics activity pigeonetics.  This activity was assigned in class on February 6th.  

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

1.  Pigeonetics will only run using Safari or Firefox, CHROME WILL NOT WORK 

2.  You will have to download and install Unity Player to make Pigeonetics work

3.  You need to complete the first 12 goal birds.

4.  You will have to answer questions about the genotypes of the birds you crossed to make the goal birds.  You may want to write down which birds you crossed to make the goal birds on a piece of paper.
